Member of the month – Celestino Aznar

Tino is a big part of the CrossFit Wädneswil Community. He is a part of the Early Birds gang, mostly attending classes at 6 a.m. Sometimes, when he hits the snooze button too many times you can meet him during the lunch class.

We are happy to see Tino pushing himself out of his comfort zone every morning and we are proud of the progress he is constantly making.

We couldn’t be happier to have Tino in our community! 

In this interview, you will find out more about Tino…
 

  1. How long have you been a member and what has changed in your life during that time due to your Wädi experience?
    I’ve been doing CrossFit since 2016 and CFW member since September 2019. I started CrossFit after burnout and it really helped me to regain normality. CrossFit helped me to find again the balance between work and life… In CFW I’ve met a lot of great people, competitive, sporty, and always supportive of new challenges. Motivation helped me to keep going. After many years, still highly motivated and excited about Wods.
  2. What are you the proudest of accomplishing?
    doing things I couldn’t do in my 30’s… example: Double Unders & Rope Climbs.
  3. The Motto or Phase you live by?
    This one is easy: ’no pain, no gain‘. Since I was a kid… always repeated the same phrase before any challenge…
  4. What is the next place on your travel bucket list?
    I’m collecting miles to travel to Japan in first class. Almost there… and then travel the country from north to south.
  5. If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
    I love food and it’s tough to choose one… but I would go for Paella.
  6. If you could get rid of one movement in CrossFit what would it be and why?
    Also easy, Thrusters. I hate them… They always come on Mondays after a weekend and a break. 
  7. Do you hit the snooze button, or do you wake up immediately?
    Every day, every morning I hit the snooze button and think about canceling the class. It takes me, sincerely, 10 minutes to fight laziness. Once is done… the day goes downhill…
  8. How would you describe CrossFit Wädenswil to a stranger?
    A place with extraordinary people where you can forget about work or daily problems. A Kit Kat…
  9. What is the best and the most memorable CrossFit event you attended and why?
    Zürich CrossFit Games. Amazing experience and great community from CrossFit Wädi supporting competitors. I pushed myself although I signed up for the wrong category and ended up competing with younger athletes… It was so much fun.
  10. Tell us something about you that we might not know… 🙂
    I played football professionally in EE.UU until a serious ankle injury. Sometimes I find some of that old endurance during the workouts. Not much, but it’s still hiding somewhere…
