Ben Wicks ist unser Member of the Month vom Monat Juli. Herzliche Gratulation Ben!
Ben besucht uns seit Oktober 2019 hoch motiviertes Mitglied von uns und besucht sehr gerne die Klassen um 06:00 Morgens.
Er trainiert nicht nur sehr oft bei uns sondern ist auch ein leuchtendes Beispiel für jemanden der an seinen Schwächen arbeitet, seine Kameraden anfeuert, motivert und positiv beeinflusst.
Ben ist immer gut gelaunt, die Gespräche mit Ihm sind interessant und man kann eine Menge von ihm lernen.
Gerne möchten wir mehr über Ben erfahren, aus diesem Grund haben wir ihm einige Fragen gestellt (in Englisch, da Ben englisch spricht)
1.) How often do you train at CrossFit Wädi and how dis you hear about us
I heard about CrossFit Wädi from my buddies Andre and Sasha when i was at CrossFit Horgen. They talked about the quality of the Box and the coaches.. both of which have proven to be true!
I train 5-6 days a week.
2.) We know you hate the Assault Bike.. why? 😉
As a little guy with short legs its one of those excercises like Wall Balls where i feel i have to work harder to get the results… an the harder you go on the bike the harder she bites! 😉
All that said i am trying to change my attitude to the bike.. get on it more often and try to conquer it mentally. I still have a long way to go!!
3.) Do you have an idol? If so, who?
I am most inspired by people who are prepared to stand up for what they believe in. No matter what the cost. Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, even Greg Glassman from CrossFit who has taken a stand for people owning their own health and well-being and agianst the missinformation around health and wellness.
4.) You are Australian right? What keeps you in Switzerland and what do you miss down under?
Yes, i am a proud Aussie J.
I work for a company called Mondelêz and i came here for work with my familiy at the start of 2017. For 3 years i have been leading the Cadbury Chocolate Brand Globally (a Chocolate rom the UK).
We recently singed up for 2 more years and i am now leading the chocolate portfoloio for Europe-Brands like Milka, Tobleronde, Cote ‚D’Or and Cadbury.
So i am sorrounded by chocolate at work which is dangerous.. ^^
CrossFit Helbs me work of some of those calories.. 😉
We love Switzerland – the mountains and the lakes – and have made som great friends. But i do miss the beach, the surf and the food in Australia.
5.) If you were asked a question that you don’t want to answer, what would the question be? 😊
Why is your german so bad after being in switzerland for 3 years?!?
6.) Describe and cross-fit wädenswil in your words.
Its’s a great Community. Full of good people doing good for themselves and each other. I like the camaraderie and friendly competitive spirit. And the quality of the box, the equipment and the coaching.
7.) If you could be someone else for a day, who would you like to be and why?
Roger Federer playing in a big match! I have played Tennis most of my life and it would be nice to experience what it feels lik to play the game like Roger.
8.) What do you particularly like about CrossFit?
I particularly like
The Community spirit
That i don’t have to hing about the programming
That the program changes everyday and you never know what you are going to get – it’s a good mental test, you just have to shou up and get on with it!
That if you stick at it you will get results – I am probably fitter and stronger now than i was at 25!
That everything can be scaled for any experience level
I have done all sorts of exercise and it’s the only thing that keeps me coming back everyday. I would do more if i had the time and my boy could cope with it.
9.) Tell us something about you that we don’t know yet!
I am half European! Both of my mothers parents – my Grandparents – were Lithuanian.
